#EssentialRecipe => Savory Waffles

Jonny's mom was in town last week and we made some classic savory waffles.

Here is the thing about waffles, you need two recipes... One for sweet toppings, and one for savory toppings. This one is for savory and the key ingredient is buckwheat flour.

Both of these recipes are coming soon in a vegan version.

Ingredients:

-1 Cup white non bleached flour

-1 Cup buckwheat flour

-1Tbsp baking powder

-1tsp sea salt

-1 3/4 Cup of whole milk

-1/2 Cup avocado oil

-1 Egg

Method:

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

Add the milk slowly while constantly whisking.

Add the oil and eggs and mix with a spatula gently. Do not overmix.

You can add a bit more milk if the batter seems too thick.

Let's sit while you preheat your waffle maker.

Spray some avocado oil or use a brush on your waffle maker.

Pour the batter into the center of the waffle iron and close the lid.

Cook until golden brown.

Waffles are best eaten immediately, but you can keep them warm on low in the oven.

Server with your favorite toppins. We used proscuito, avocado, black olives, eggs and arugula.

Voila! Savory waffles.
